How to fade acne scars and hyperpigmentation: all-natural remedies

If you have acne you most likely also struggle with the unsightly scars that acne can leave behind.   Even if the actual pimple has healed you may still find scars left behind.
This blotchy redness is referred to as hyperpigmentation, which can last for weeks before it actually fades.  The redness from the scars and hyperpigmentation can be difficult to cover up, even with the best concealer.  Here are some natural remedies that will help with acne scars:

  • Lemon juice toner- Lemon juice helps reduce redness and even out your complexion.  To make a lemon juice toner just juice 1 whole lemon and mix with about 1/2-3/4 cup of purified water (depending on how strong you want it to be).  Store the mixture in the fridge and use nightly to fade scars left by acne.
  • Jojoba Oil- This particular oil makes a great moisturizer for acne-prone skin.  If you keep your skin well nourished and moisturized, the scars and hyperpigmentation will fade faster than if you were to leave your skin dry and flaky.  Utilize organic Jojoba oil to help with acne scars and to help prevent more acne.  Apply just a few drops and massage into your skin once or twice daily.
  • Aloe Vera- Natural aloe vera gel is a great way to help heal acne scars and hyperpigmentation.  If you do decide to use aloe gel be sure that you get 100% aloe vera gel, organic if possible, with no added ingredients.  There are a lot of aloe products that have numerous ingredients which could do more harm than good for acne prone skin.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar- This healthy vinegar helps improve and even out overall skin tone and slough off dead skin cells which means faster healing of scars and hyperpigmentaiton.  Make a toner using all natural organic ACV (with "the mother") and purified water.  Typically I use 1 part ACV and 2 parts water when I mix ACV toner.  I also store it in the fridge because I like the cooling effect it has after cleansing.
